Did you really say a .902 save percentage is solid and/or adequate? It’s neither of those. .902 is pretty bad even for a backup...

Vegas is now 2.75 mill over the cap. Who gets shipped out?

He's been solid overall in his role. He has a sub-3.0 GAA and above 90% save percentage as a back-up. Those are numbers you can be happy with in a number two, especially when he was burdened with tough road starts and bad defense in front of him for a majority of his starts.

From the last Blog Jeff

The 77.6 million you posted from Twitter with their starting lineup (and showing 3.8 million cap remaining) doesn't include Clarksons 5.25 million. Now with Subban signed, they would be 2.775 million above cap still needing at least 1 and realistically 2 defenseman

https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/goldenknights

84.275 Million committed to 13F 5D and 2 Goalies plus Clarkson (I took McKenzie out of the cap $$, he's a no brainer to get sent to the AHL)

Got to get to 81.5 WITH Clarkson, then 5.25 will open up on the 2nd day of the season when his LTIR is activated

My suggestion stands that they can clear that remaining overage (assuming they make no other moves) by sending Reaves down to the AHL (1.05 saved) Holden (1.05 saved) and Zykov (.675 saved) - These players have limited chances at getting claimed, although it would mean opening the season with only 4 D for 1 game

When the LTIR is activated, Recall Reaves, and Holden (2.1 of the 5.25 gone)

Leaves 3.15 for (probably) Engelland at 750k

Then 2.4 million for 1 forward callup and 1 D callup (or signing) to make 13F 7D 2G

There's literally zero chance that happens. Also, I don't see Engelland taking less than $1 million. A move is coming, McPhee is just giving us lip service.

Cap Friendly: LTIR can be used in the off-season while the 10% off-season cushion is active. LTIR in the off-season is calculated using the basic equation outlined above, which permits a team to exceed the off-season salary cap. To use off-season LTIR the team must provide doctors proof that the player in question will continue to be injured at the beginning of the regular season for 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days.

That's Off-season LTIR. In the off season you can go 10% over the cap limit. Off season LTIR means you can go 10% PLUS the LTIR players cap hit

You still need to be under the cap on DAY 1 of the regular season INCLUDING any LTIR players. (In this case Clarkson) On Day 2, the players can be put on LTIR and the capspace increases by that amount (This is the reason Hossa and Pronger were shipped off to Arizona after they were done playing. It's a real pain to have their cap count on for Day 1 and backfill the roster and capspace when you LTIR them on Day 2. Their cap hit just doesn't disappear forever once they hit permanent LTIR)

If that move is Eakin, thats a big mistake by McPhee. Glass isn't ready for Full Time and definitely not in a matchup/checking role
